Great Pumpkin Search 2016: Treats and Eats

In this post you’ll find a review on Culver’s Salted Caramel Pumpkin Concrete Mixer, First Watch’s Pumpkin Pie Porridge Breakfast, and Little Debbie Pumpkin Spice Roll.

A week ago I drove through our new Culvers for some comfort food after a rough day and saw a sign for Pumpkin Concrete Mixers.

I had to go big and get the Salted Caramel Pumpkin Concrete Mixer.

Culver’s Salted Caramel Pumpkin Concrete Mixer – Slurpable Pumpkin Pie

My thoughts: Slurpable Pumpkin Pie.

While I saw the caramel swirled on top, I didn’t really taste it or get any big gobs of caramel stuck in the straw, and I definitely did not detect any salt. I have a feeling it was really well blended. It was delicious all the same, very rich and creamy. It tasted like real pumpkin pie, with a beautiful blend of spices. I would absolutely get this again. Great Pumpkin Search 2015: In the Kitchen

It’s the week before Halloween. Many pumpkins are being carved into spooky faces to scare away the monsters that lurk on All Hallows Eve. Here at Creations from the Creative I’m carving up pumpkins to eat.

I’ll share some quick-make pumpkin delights, straight from a store, and two DIY recipe perfect for Halloween.

(Read on for an adult beverage recipe as well as a great rice dish featuring roasted pumpkin).

Before I dive into the DIY, I wanted to add a quick review of

Burger King’s Oreo Pumpkin Milkshake.

I couldn’t resist sipping it down before snapping a quick photo. This shake tastes like Oreos with just a hint of pumpkin spice. The Oreo crumbles are the main star in this drink. Pumpkin is just a by-standard, but they make a good pair. I have to admit there was a smoky aftertaste that I’m not sure was intended. I think it might have been the byproduct of the shake being made near the burger broiler.

Now, onto the DIY!

First we have Spiced Pecan Pumpkin Muffins from Williams and Sonoma.

This is a powder mix that you add eggs, butter, and water to. You can make a pumpkin loaf (cream cheese frosting recipe written on bag). Or make muffins, like I did. Read the rest of this entry »

Great Pumpkin Search 2015 is Underway!

It’s September.

For  many this means looking forward to leaves changing. Cool, crisp weather. Large bonfires and roasted foods. Halloween decorations fill shelves (with Christmas ones right behind them).

For me… Well, I live in Florida.

While the weather does lose some of it’s heavy, damp, humidity, it won’t cool for awhile. Scarves and cute sweaters will have to wait.

Even if I can’t feel the change in the weather I can enjoy it in other ways.

Bring on the Pumpkin!

I’m starting this year’s Great Pumpkin Search with breakfast.

Pepperidge Farm Pumpkin Spice Swirl Bread

I’ve seen this bread on the shelf for a few years and finally decided to give it a whirl.

This bread is enjoyable as toast with butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon. The pumpkin and spices, while present, are subtle.

If you’re looking for a hearty loaf of pumpkin bread, skip this. It’s fun for what it is and can be used to make other treats (like french toast sticks after the jump). If you’re looking for more pumpkin flavor, you will need to add pumpkin butter.

October 2014 – Great Pumpkin Search

Here we are, officially!

Now that we have arrived in Autumn let’s celebrate with pumpkin everything!

Sadly, in the Sunshine state (which has been nothing but rain the last few days), it is still warm. No cool crisp air. No brightly colored leaves. No bonfires. At least, not yet. Soon, I hope, the weather will turn and cool off. Even a few degrees would be nice.

Since it’s still warm here, I wanted to start this post with some delicious Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice-Cream from Baskin Robins.

This ice-cream is heavenly. You can enjoy it in a cup, cone, or blended with other flavors into a milkshake. My husband had a Snickers, Pumpkin Cheesecake milkshake, while I delighted in two pure scoops of heaven. Read the rest of this entry »

Great Pumpkin Search 2013: Target Finds

I’m falling head first into Fall and hoping for cooler weather—despite the high 80° temps in Florida.

I desperately want to don my scarf collection and wear the berets I’ve recently crocheted, but until the weather agrees I’ll have to settle for a taste of fall instead of that crisp fall feeling.

Thankfully pumpkin flavored everything is out in full force, especially at Target!

For those who don’t have a Barnes & Noble nearby, I found a brand new item from Celestial Seasonings Tea—Sweet Harvest Pumpkin Black Tea!

I found this at Target, but I imagine it would also be found at your local grocer or wherever Celestial Seasonings is sold.

This tea is reminiscent of Chai spice, but with a hint of pumpkin. It’s very subtle. It does have actual pumpkin in it, and is naturally sweetened with stevia extract. I found that it still needed a bit of sugar or honey to bring out the flavors of the tea.
