October 2014 – Great Pumpkin Search

Here we are, officially!

Now that we have arrived in Autumn let’s celebrate with pumpkin everything!

Sadly, in the Sunshine state (which has been nothing but rain the last few days), it is still warm. No cool crisp air. No brightly colored leaves. No bonfires. At least, not yet. Soon, I hope, the weather will turn and cool off. Even a few degrees would be nice.

Since it’s still warm here, I wanted to start this post with some delicious Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice-Cream from Baskin Robins.

Baskin Robins Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice-Cream

This ice-cream is heavenly. You can enjoy it in a cup, cone, or blended with other flavors into a milkshake. My husband had a Snickers, Pumpkin Cheesecake milkshake, while I delighted in two pure scoops of heaven.

This ice-cream has graham cracker crumbles, savory cheesecake, and pumpkin pie spices. It tasted like pumpkin pie and cheesecake married, then gave birth to ice-cream. I highly recommend it if you are a fan of pumpkin and cheesecake.

Another pumpkin-cheesecake combo is this little truffle from Godiva. They have these new Pumpkin Cheesecake Truffles. It’s half full of their pumpkin spice truffle goo, and their cheesecake goo. It’s really good. This tiny guy packs huge flavor. It’s very sweet, so I could only handle one. I’m sure I’ll enjoy a couple more eventually.

GiGi’s White Chocolate Pumpkin Cupcake

Since we’re talking dessert, GiGi’s Cupcakes have this amazing Pumpkin White Chocolate cupcake. Mine got a little slanted in the long car ride home, but it didn’t affect the flavor one bit. It was good, well balanced with the sweet chocolate and the pumpkin spices. The white chocolate definitely makes this cupcake a bit sweeter than other pumpkin cupcakes I’ve tasted, but for those who don’t like too much spice (or cream cheese frosting) this would be perfect. A real treat.

Pumpkin Spice Milano Cookies

Another dessert item is the Pumpkin Spice Milano cookies I found at Target. Target seems to have the market for unique seasonal treats. These Milanos are heaven with a cup of coffee. I dipped them in the coffee, like biscotti, and could have finished an entire bag by myself. The pumpkin spice is a nice addition to the chocolate cream center. When paired with coffee it is pure bliss!

Danielle Pumpkin Chips |metacynth.com

Danielle Pumpkin Chips

Another Target find are Danielle Pumpkin Chips. This was more on the savory end of pumpkin treats. It had a really unique taste. It’s salty but slightly sweet. My husband and I loved them. I should have bought us a bag each, because this did not last.

I’m not usually one who likes the salty-sweet combo, but these chips really worked. I wouldn’t say they are sweet, like pumpkin pie—there’s no spices here—but they have a naturally sweet undertone from the pumpkin. My friend tried them and said she’d like them better if they were cinnamon and spice covered instead of salty. I disagree, but if you’re not a fan of savory pumpkin dishes, then these chips probably aren’t for you.

That sums up all the newest things I’ve found on the Great Pumpkin Search. I’m still on the lookout for new delights, and will share them as I find them.
