Happy October

Pumpkin Cookie from Panera

It’s October! The weather is finally starting to cool, welcoming the wonders of fall.
Though not exactly a “Great Pumpkin Search” candidate, the Pumpkin Cookie from Panera Bread (pictured above) is a wonderful delight!

A bright orange sugar cookie in the shape of a grinning Jack-O-Lantern, with classic sugary sweetness and a hint of citrus flavor, it is a perfect pairing to a warm Pumpkin Spice Latte, also available at Panera Bread.

At Starbucks (yes another winner from everyone’s favorite coffee shop) is the Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin.

This muffin was an absolute delight!

Salty pumpkin seeds lined the rim with a nice salty sweet combo. This muffin is both savory and sweet, a combo I don’t typically enjoy. But the dollop of cream cheese in the middle tones down the sweetness of the muffin, reminding me that I wasn’t eating a cupcake. I think cream cheese and pumpkin are a winning combination and really enjoyed this muffin with some hot black tea. It would also compliment a cup of coffee, if that is your preference.

Also pictured is a small sample of Starbucks’ Pumpkin Bread. I love Starbucks’ Pumpkin Bread and often have it throughout the year. They add pumpkin seeds to the crust witch gives the moist bread a nice texture. The bread has a hint of spices, just like their Pumpkin Spice Latte. I also enjoy Pumpkin Bread with black tea or coffee.

I don’t often pair pumpkin coffee or chai with pumpkin bakery items, because the flavors tend to blend too much. On a side note: I am keeping my eyes out for Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream said to be coming to grocery stores sometime in November.

That is all the pumpkin goodness I have to report at this time. I do plan on getting my hands on more pumpkin delights throughout the fall season.
